Ana and the instant tree << Back

Ana lives happily on her parents' country farm. Surrounded by chickens and other animals, she plays to the rhythm of the sounds of nature as she helps with the tasks of the family business. Unfortunately, there are problems with her father's job and Ana's family has to move to the city. Since then, Ana has lived on the slope of the park they are building behind their house in which the municipality has promised to plant trees and turn it into the city's largest garden.

Five years later, Ana is now eleven years old and impatiently awaits, along with the rest of the neighborhood, the instant tree planter, who will fill the park with light and color. But something goes wrong. As the neighbors watch in wonder as seconds after a seed is thrown a tree begins to emerge from the ground, Ana quickly realizes that something is wrong. The branches that crown the newborn are not branches....... and what happened is going to cause serious problems in the neighborhood, unless the protagonist and the planter get to work and solve the problem.

Ana's roots are undoubtedly rural. After growing up in nature, few people can stand the confinement of the city without longing for the breadth and freedom that gives the countryside and the beauty of its inhabitants, animals or plants. This is the motivation of Ana, a girl who misses those she has never met alone. She understands the importance of every tree, every root, every leaf and every branch, the importance of rain and sunshine and the influence that nature exerts on our lives. And she takes care of it because it seems important to her.

Nono Granero has built in her a central character and engine of history, committed to his ideals. Faced with the passivity of the neighbors who choose destruction after the complaint, she looks for constructive solutions. And she does so with true commitment and love for what she believes in.

A simple reading, although the tone and the discourse are mature, as is its protagonist, who committed and excited defends the values in which she believes with confidence and respect, faithful to her principles and without failing in her commitment. Each chapter, brief, is accompanied by several wax images in black and white and colors that reflect the feelings and moods of the protagonists and situations. Luminous in the happy moments, they are transformed into dark and cold in the moments of conflict.

A reading with which to work in the schools the love to nature, the human behavior and the resolution of conflicts for children from 8 years old.  M.L.P.
